Victor Vogelzang

Victor Vogelzang is project engineer in the tender phase

He liked his graduate internship at Ballast Nedam Park & Connect so much that he decided to stay on board. He is currently working as a project engineer in the tender department and will soon start on a project during construction.

Originally, Victor was not supposed to start until September 2022, but by mid-August he was much needed for a tender. Thus, he started two weeks earlier. Victor talks about how he likes his job and what it is like to work on tenders in a team.

What was it like to start at Ballast Nedam?

Thanks to the support I received and the atmosphere in the team, I liked my graduation internship so much that I continued working here afterwards. Ballast Nedam Park & Connect's mission and vision, which includes a lot of attention to modular and circular construction, particularly appealed to me. This is an important link in our sustainability process.

Did the job turn out as you imagined beforehand?

I had already worked at a construction company in a previous internship, so I roughly knew what to expect. What I didn't immediately anticipate is that my technical knowledge was taken so seriously. It was included in the consultations and plans, which was great to notice.

What attracts you most in your work?

I like sparring about how we are going to actually build a design. How are we going to translate everything into a design and work it into an actual structure? I also enjoy hearing the story of the subcontractors and visiting them.

What are you most proud of?

I am always proud when we have won a tender. I once even celebrated that with friends. I clearly remember my manager calling me at the time to tell me the good news, which was a great moment. It really was a team effort. I get a lot of energy from that.

How would you like to develop further?

My ambition is to become a project manager. That is my dot on the horizon. Soon I will be working on a project in which implementation will start. I am really looking forward to working with my feet in the mud. Besides, it's always possible to switch to another organisational unit within Ballast Nedam. Working abroad always interests me and those steps are also possible. So, in short: I can still go in all directions!

Are you also interested in working at Ballast Nedam?

At Ballast Nedam, you can develop and become a little better every day. In the Netherlands and abroad. Together with almost 2,000 colleagues, we are committed to a future-proof living environment. Will you join our team to contribute to this?
