“I was given the opportunity to step in at a time when many changes were taking place.”
BN is a large company with a great history that has managed to come back from difficult times. I was given the opportunity to step in at a time when many changes were taking place. I enjoy the challenge of helping further those changes by recruiting young talent and developing contemporary recruitment processes.
What gives you energy?
Enthusiastic candidates and fun colleagues! Giving young talent the opportunity to take the first steps of their career and see them make great strides during their apprenticeship or internship. I find it remarkable that my introduction to many of my colleagues—whom I now meet daily in the restaurant or greet in the hallway—was on paper. It is satisfying and ensures that the constant search for new Ballast Nedam employees never gets boring.
The unpredictability. A day can be scheduled to the minute, and then a rush job comes along, and you suddenly find yourself in the car on your way to one of the other locations. Seeing all the locations, project locations, and colleagues makes my work so much fun. Lastly, I love talking to so many different people and learning new things about people, technology, and our organisation every day. My work is never dull!
What are you proud of?
Our projects! When driving through the Netherlands, you will always come across something that BN built. Whether it is a stadium, a shopping centre, a prison, a bridge, a tunnel or a motorway, I love seeing it! Especially when I think about how so many different people can work together to plan and build such a huge project.
What is your ambition?
Continue to build Ballast Nedam and improve myself. In the future, I want to attract the right people even faster and continue developing my knowledge in the technical field to make that happen.
